On March 25, Russia and Ukraine agreed to a limited Black Sea ceasefire after the U.S. offered aid for fertilizer access and POW exchanges. But just days earlier, Russia had already violated an energy infrastructure ceasefire — proving Putin has no intention of honoring peace deals.
Why? Because peace could destroy Russia from within. Over 900,000 soldiers may return home, many traumatized and addicted. In 2023, alcohol use hit 2.3 billion liters, and violent crimes reached 589,000 — the highest since 2011. A ceasefire won’t stabilize Russia. It may be the spark that tears it apart.
