With three days of rugged riding and big climbs, Moab Rocks absolutely fits into our search for the best and most challenging mountain bikes around the world – which I guess is why we keep coming back. Well, part of the reason anyway. The other part? Well, we haven’t exactly nailed it yet, have we? Last year, we both put in good performances physically, but we were plagued by dumb mechanical issues, wrong turns, and if we’re being honest, our own inability to get out of bed early enough to do a warm up. This year, we put in some of the best training of our lives, only to get floored by a head cold a week before the race – and it definitely crossed our minds, was this going to be yet another year of “bad luck?”
But that’s the thing with bike racing – the thing that keeps us coming back, not just to this race, but to this sport in general – you never know until you roll the dice. And this weekend, we’re going to be taking some risks, going HARD, and betting on ourselves.
