In this discourse, there are three questions that are answered by Om Swami.
First Question - Why are there so many paths to God and are they equally valid? Each human being is truly unique. When a person shares their truth after realization with the world, often only those who operate in a similar frequency as that person will accept that person's truth. Om Swami says the only benchmark he has for any path is if that path makes one kinder or more truthful. If it does, then it is a valid path to god.
Second Question - How to get out of the darkness of the soul? The darkness of the soul represents a state where you are in such darkness that the darkness itself becomes visible. It signifies a state where you are completely lost and have no motivation or reason to live. Devotion, Grace, and Kindness are ways that can help come out of this. Find the energy to devote yourself to something, even if you don't feel like it. When you find that cause to devote yourself to, then grace starts to flow. Devotion and Grace help one come out of the darkness and then become pillars of one's life.
Third Question - What is the basis of making any decision? Do the best you can. There is no certain or set rule of thumb. But, there is a spiritual and material side in most decisions. If you consider the spiritual side, ask yourself if the decision you are going to make is going to hurt or harm anyone, and if it is going to benefit others at large, other than you. The more you can believe that it is going to help others, or at least not harm others it is worth considering. Then there is the material aspect, firstly ask if you can afford and sustain on an ongoing basis. Be pragmatic and clear.
