In this video I will take you through my experience with the Qidi X-Plus 3 high speed core XY 3D printer. I've had the unique opportunity to test two of these machines - the first one being a previous revision of the machine before Qidi reworked the frame to improve Z-axis consistency with repeated prints using the heated chamber.
The time between receiving the first and second (updated) printer allowed me to torture test the original model in a print farm production environment for months. Before making review videos I normally take my time and extensively test printers but this went far beyond what I am able to normally do. Although the original printer was the one that has had the most print hours on it - the two models are similar enough that I can confidently say the new model performs just as well as the original.
To be clear - I was not using the heated chamber (PLA and PETG mostly) on the original model so I had zero issues with z axis consistency. I ran this printer day and night and it is still working fantastic as a production machine. If you happen to find a good deal on the pre-modified X-Plus 3 and you don't plan on using the heated chamber much - get one!

Of my few criticisms of the X-Plus 3 I was not fond of the spool holder dry box placement at the back of the machine. As you saw in the video I replaced it with the following:

I also use a lot of refill spools to cut down on empty spool waste, so my blade spool is a nice addition as well:

Overall, I would highly recommend the Qidi X-Plus 3 and I have awarded it with my choice for best 3D printer of 2023. The print quality is the best of all of the printers I have tested so far and the consistency is unparalleled. Qidi has done an amazing job with this machine - even the default print profiles in their slicer are top notch.
I would also recommend this printer to anyone looking for a "out-of-the-box" solution for general use. I was even able to print PETG which can be a little tricky at times - I only needed to increase the nozzle temperature from the standard profile and it worked flawlessly after that.
