I visited these places 5 years ago and since I had fond memories, I wanted to visited them again and share them with you. Queen's View is viewpoint with a great view across Loch Tummel and part of the Scottish Highlands. The distinct shape of the mountains Schiehallion dominates the landscape, but it can easily be shrouded in clouds on a not so clear day. When we arrived this was the case and while it's still a great view, I made sure to return for a second time once the clouds had cleared away. Queen Victoria visited Queen's View on her tour of the Scottish Highlands and was delighted to have a place named after her, which she had never visited before (as usually places would be named after her once she visited). However, in this case the queen in question was probably Isabella, wife of Robert the Bruce, who gave it its name.
Just a few minutes further up the road is the start of the Allean Forest walk, which is a lovely walk in itself, but the historical remains make it much more interesting. There is a well-preserved 18th Century 'clachan', a typical Gaelic homestead found in the Scottish Highlands. When you continue further, you arrive at a 'ring fort', likely dating from the Iron Age or Early Middle Ages. Early writers surmised it to be a druidical site of worship, but nowadays it is considered another kind of homestead. We discuss our thoughts about that in the video. The information I read in the video is from this website: http://www.borenich.co.uk/Crannogs_Ringforts/Ring-forts.html
