As my querying journey for Project Moths continues, I figured I'd make a video on an aspect of querying that confused me way back in 2018 when I was still a baby writer talking to literary agents for the very first time: the Call! In short, the Call is a phone call (or video call) that occurs after an agent reads your full manuscript and decides to move forward. It's part two-sided job interview, part 'getting to know you over coffee.' This is your opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the agent, as well as have them learn about you—but what is the goal of the Call, and what are some productive questions you can ask? In this video, I break down 14 questions/topics I think are important to touch upon during the Call, as well as some reasons why. **I forgot to say this directly in the video, but HUGE disclaimer:** I am by no means an expert, and these questions are based off of personal experience as well as anecdotal experience from an array of author friends. This list is neither definitive nor comprehensive! Also, if you're a querying or soon-to-be querying author, let me know in the comments below! I would love to hear from you. thank you for watching :) ✨ timestamps: 0:00 - opening 0:05 - intro, a bit about where i'm at with querying 1:16 - Craft with Kat's Query Letter Master Class [sponsored] 2:36 - what the heck is 'the Call?' 3:47 - 14 questions to ask a literary agent on 'the Call 13:53 - outro, plugs for camp nanowrimo streams, etc. ✨ music: Free Music for Videos 👉 Music by Citrus Avenue - Cozy Snow - https://thmatc.co/?l=8A304081 Free Music for Videos 👉 Music by Damien Sebe - at dawn - https://thmatc.co/?l=AFAD1C11 ✨ my published writing: "The Fall of Esther Park" via Apparition Lit: https://apparitionlit.com/the-fall-of-esther-park/ "Eulogy for a Muse" via The Icarus Writing Collective: https://www.icaruswritingcollective.com/the-moon ✨ links: 🇵🇸 STAY INFORMED/DONATE: https://savepalestine.carrd.co travel writings: https://wherethehellami.blog website: https://lynndjung.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lynndjung/?hl=en ✨ contact me/business inquiries: [email protected] ✨ tags: authortube, writing, writer, author, speculative fiction, fantasy writer, traditional publishing, querying, how to query, query letters, trad pub, querying help, literary agents, how to land a literary agent, how to sign with a literary agent, my querying journey, authortok, novel writing, writing advice, writing tips, how to write a novel, life as a writer, writing life, publication, how to publish, my traditional publishing journey, working with literary agents, traditional publishing advice, querying advice, querying tips, query letters, pitching your book, writing a synopsis, submission package for agents, query letter writing help, the querying process, querying your book
