In order to substitute for an R68 consist that had to return to the yard, this spare set of R68As, which normally run on the B, N, Q, and W Lines, was pressed into service on the D line! The R68As look similar to the R68s that normally run on the D line, although there are a few spotting differences that distinguish them, such as their different rollsign windows, belt line trim, car numbers, and cab door arrangements.
This quick and resourceful ad-hoc rolling stock swap exemplifies the MTA's prowess at employing creative solutions to the challenges that can occur when operating a transit system. Enjoy!
