Over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of August the GCR held their annual railways at work gala, my personal favorite event in the GCR event calendar.
The theme for this year was 1966! The last time England won the world cup.
What an event it was! Goods demonstrations at as well as reenactments at Quorn and Woodhouse. The loco lineup was also brilliant, featuring 5 steam locos and 3 diesel locos in action over the event. Including visiting Class 20 D8001 from the Epping & Ongar Railway. 6990 Witherslack Hall also returned to GCR metals after starring in the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway steam gala as well as a summer visit to the West Somerset Railway.
Overall, the event was amazing and really showcased what a show the GCR can put on.
