🎙️ Introducing Our New Segment: “Discussion with Param” 🎙️
Welcome to a brand-new journey of ideas, insights, and intellect!
This is the first episode of our fresh and fiery segment — Discussion with Param — where we bring together some of the sharpest minds: intellectuals, authors, journalists, and subject matter experts, to dive deep into the most pressing issues shaping our society, politics, and culture.

And what better way to kickstart this series than with a topic that’s shaking the foundations of our democracy — the Caste Census in India!

In this power-packed conversation, I had the honor of speaking with:

🗣️ Rajkumar Bhati, Spokesperson of the Samajwadi Party, who powerfully unpacked the complex layers of merit, caste, and why representation truly matters.

👨‍🏫 Professor Sandeep Yadav from Delhi University, who beautifully linked the caste census to global values of equality, justice, and fraternity.

🧑‍🎓 Sandeep Singh, a sharp and articulate Research Scholar from JNU, who brought the constitutional lens to the forefront with a compelling analysis.

Trust me — this episode isn’t just informative, it’s transformative.

Let’s talk numbers that shook Bihar —
Did you know the Musahar community makes up over 3% of Bihar’s population? That’s more than the Bhumihars and nearly equal to Brahmins. Yet, how many Musahars do you see in top administrative roles like DM or SDM?
This is not just a statistic; it’s a question of justice.

The recent Bihar caste census has done more than just count—it has exposed.
For 70 years, the benefits meant for OBCs, SCs, and STs have been disproportionately enjoyed by dominant castes.
Now, with hard data in hand, we can clearly see who holds the wealth, who has secured the jobs, and who has monopolized power.

So naturally, the next question is:
Who’s afraid of the caste census — and why?
Because truth shakes thrones. And the 2024 caste census data might just do that.

One truth stands tall: The antidote to communalism is the politics of social justice.
Just like Mandal challenged Kamandal, it is only through caste consciousness and fair representation that we can defeat divisive ideologies.

A humble appeal to Rahul Gandhi ji: Wherever there are Congress governments, initiate the caste census. Let the people know who stands with their rights and who stands in their way.

In a country where we count lions, buffaloes, goats, and camels, how is it that we refuse to count OBCs?

OBCs, who form the backbone of this nation, were given only 4% representation in India’s first Lok Sabha.
And even today? Upper-caste MPs make up 42% of Parliament.
Only 61 OBC professors across the entire country — that’s less than 2 per year in the last 70 years.

00:42 – Who are the people opposing the caste census?
4:31 – Will the caste census increase casteism?
8:27 – Which community is depriving others of their rights?
18:54 – A society of rulers and subjects in India
34:03 – Does the census harm merit?
41:20 – Why doesn’t the Samajwadi Party oppose EWS (Economically Weaker Section) reservation?
46:22 – Why is only Rahul Gandhi getting credit for the caste census?
56:57 – Why do some people have so much problem with the caste census?

Why?
Because internal divisions and lack of political unity have hollowed out the strength of the OBC movement.

If we want real change — not tokenism — we need data, we need unity, and we need to demand the caste census.

Let this podcast be your first step into that conversation.
Let’s listen, reflect, and ignite the change.

Tune in now to Episode 1 of “Discussion with Param” — because the path to justice starts with knowing the truth.
