I Review a 2025 Ram 1500 3L Hurricane twin turbo I-6 Engine while towing my 8,000lbs trailer on my towing loop through the Appalachian mountains. I discuss acceleration, fuel economy engine control all while comparing the 3L hurricane in the ram 1500 trucks to the 3.5L Ecoboost in the F-150s to see which engine is the best towing engine. Today I wanted to directly compare this engine to the 3.5L ecoboost to see if this 3L has what it takes to compete with the top towing engines in the 1500 truck segment. right off the top this 3L hurricane engine is producing the most torque per liter out of any engine in the segment making this 3L hurricane a bit of a torque monster. but the ecoboost does make a little more power on paper., . in terms of acceleration with my loaded trailer the ecoboost is still the quicker engine while underload. in fact on all tests on my towing loop the 35L ecoboost was the better engine. this was a little disappointing because I thought the 3L hurricane engine being an inline-6 engine design could potentially push my trailer more effectively but nope the 3L hurricane needed to Rev higher in the RPM band or have the engine work harder then the 3.5L ecoboost while towing the same load on the same road. which to me signifies that the 3L hurricane is not as good at towing a load. lastly is fuel economy or MPGs for this 3L hurricane and stellantis said that this 3L engine would be better at fuel economy while under load but from my tests the fuel was better then the 3.5L ecoboost but not by much. next we will need to compare this 3L hurricane turbo engine to the old faithful 5.7L Hemi to see just how much better or worse the newer smaller displacement turbo engine is. 00:00 - Intro 00:39 - 3L Hurricane Engine Specs 01:57 - Acceleration Test 1 (0-30mph) 03:17 - Acceleration Test 2 (35-70mph) 04:02 - Highway Towing Predictions 05:08 - First Hill Pull 05:45 - Driveline/Max Towing Capacity 07:48 - Fuel Economy (First Half) 08:09 - Transmission Temp 08:17 - Second Hill Pull 08:47 - Inline-6 Engine Design 09:36 - Stellantis Fuel Economy Protocol 11:14 - Biggest Hill Pulls 13:26 - Final Fuel Economy 13:55 - Conclusion
