This video showcases one of the rarest Ford 300 6 cylinder, engine blocks. The story of this unique production Ford 300 engine bock is told by the designer Bob Heuttman, and his racing partner Steve Ambrose. They both worked for Ford for over 30 years. They found the weakness with their chosen bullet, the Ford 300 6 cylinder engine. They raced Comp Eliminator, for 44 years. During that reign, Bob found that the production Ford 300 6, had limitations with bore, max being 4.030, also cylinders were not Siamesed, and the deck was too thin. Bob along with Steve went to the Ford Casting Plant, in Cleveland, Ohio, were they rubbed over 50 plus blocks. This allowed them to change the cores/core boxes, to enable majority of blocks to go 4.185, as compared to the stock blocks. They also strengthened the cylinders as above, and made the deck taller, to allow for increased strength, and custom deck height. Bob tells the story of how this whole process came about, and even has the blueprints for the Ford 300 6. Bob mentions about the Motorsport 4.9 Alan Johnson aluminum race head....stay tuned for the rest of the story.
