The new boards have arrived, so I add all the SMD components.
In the first video I looked at the list of requirements then created schematics for the Raspi header, the ID_EEPROM, MPU6050 and the PCA9685.
In part 2, I look at the rest of the parts I need on the first board.
In part 3, I look at all the components of the daughter board to complete the list of requirements.
In part 4, I started to place the parts on to the daughter board PCB, This is where I had my first issue. I had the wrong sized INA219 :-(
In part 5, Now with the correct sized INA219's I installed those and the through hole components.
In Part 6, I fit all the surface mounted components, there are a few of them.
In part 7, I finish off the through hole components and start the testing.
In Part 8, In this part, I go over all the issues I found.
This is a wish list in order of most important to least.
Most of my robots don't have much spare room, so I needed to get as much as possible that is useful onto the board.
Items at the top of the list must be present, while items near the bottom of the list are optional.
1) Conforms to the Raspberry Pi Foundations specifications for a Hardware Attached on Top (HAT).
2) Provision for a 4 pin head to supply 5V, Gnd, I2C_SCL and I2C_SDA that is 5V tollerant.
3) Contains a MPU6050 Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
4) Contains a PCA9685 16 channel LED/Servo driver.
5) Servo power supply MUST be separate to the Raspi and other IO power.
6) Contains 4 or more INA219 current sensors.
7) Contains 2 ADS1115 4 channel 16 bit Analog Input Devices.
8) Contains 1 MPR121 12 channel capacitive touch sensor.
