The ultimate method to fix remote control buttons that have either become harder and harder to press, or just don't work at all. All you need is a Q-tip (earbud), and some crushed up fine graphite powder (any will do, if you don't want to buy any, just file down an old lead pencil - it's practically the same stuff - just make sure it's the highest 'B' or black rating you have lying around). Opening your remote takes patience and a little care not to crack the plastic catches down the side of your remote. If you're unsure, just Google how to open a remote, you may even find a video specific to your model!
Tools:
Spudging tool - to get into your remote,
Jewellers screwdriver - may or may not be required, depends on remote,
IPA (isopropyl alcohol) - may or may not be required, depends on how dirty your remote circuit board is,
Graphite powder,
Ear bud - Q-tip
Takes about 15 minutes
