Ever since completing its rebuild in 2022, the Reading & Northern hosted the Iron Horse Rambles with their famed T-1 #2102 from Reading Outer Station to Jim Thorpe and back. For the 2024 season the Reading & Northern brought us one Reading to Jim Thorpe trip and two trips on Lehigh Division trackage going to Tunkhannock Pennsylvania on the first trip and Pittston on the second trip and back to the newly built Nesquehoning station. After leaving Nesquehoning the #2102 would climb up grade thundering from town to town before taking a brief stop in Mountain Top to take on water. After stopping, two Reading & Northern diesels would be put on the front on the consist to help with dynamic breaking for the downhill trip into Pittston. Once in Pittston the diesels will be removed and the #2102 will pull the Rambles train to Tunkhannock solo.
So sit back relax and enjoy the ride!!
