The incredible floral beading styles that developed around Red River are so iconic, the Metis were even known as the "flower beadwork people".
Every artifact tells its own story, and we'll be visiting everything from dancing shoes, to smoking bags, to one of the oldest and most mysterious bits of beading in Winnipeg!
Our Behind the Scenes Curatorial Tours let you get up-close and personal with the museum's collection. Our expert Curator, Eric, brings you behind the barriers and gives an in-depth tour of some of the most important artifacts in Manitoba's history.
These tours are streaming live on our Facebook Page @SevenOaksHouseMuseum every weekend in 2020.
Seven Oaks House Museum is home to the oldest building in Winnipeg, and is a provincial heritage site. The museum interprets the history of the fur trade and early Manitoba through the lives of the Inksters, a prominent Scottish-Metis family.
