Neurotrophic factors such as GDNF have the potential to actually improve symptoms of Parkinson's, not just slow down progression and there is substantial evidence that they could work. Previous clinical trials did not meet their endpoints but there is renewed optimism using new methods of delivery. Jodie travels to Bristol to meet Professor Alan Whone to understand more and find out about a new clinical trial called REGENERATE-PD that is due to start in 2025.
