Welcome to a new installment of plant chores! I gotta say, I was hoping to do more of them in this video, but I guess there were unexpected surprises! (And not the good kind!)I wanted to show you in this video how to remove coconut husk from new hoyas and how to pot them in a new potting mix. I was prepared that I might need to root the plant again or take some cuttings, but I was definitely not prepared for what I found inside the coconut husk! Root mealybugs! Oh nooooo!
Okay, let’s take a breather. Yes, root mealybugs are scary. They can easily kill your plant if you don’t notice them on time. And sometimes, symptoms are tough to spot! So, I guess we were lucky I decided to repot this hoya for my plant chores video. In the end, I do think this video is useful as you will see what to do in case you get a new hoya with root mealybugs and I still DO show you how to remove coconut husk…. Kind of. 😂
