I replace the chassis on a Bachmann BIG Hauler 4-6-0 Locomotive purchased in 1992.
I start with a locomotive from the Bachmann "Rocky Mountain Express" set (#90015) that I purchased in 1992 for our older son's first Christmas when he was 2 years old. I learned that this was a Version 2 chassis. I was able to purchase a Version 5 Anniversary 4-6-0 Chassis from the Bachmann online store. I start by reviewing some of the current replacement chassis available, then detail the steps I take to disassemble my original model and install the new chassis. I compare the inner workings of my original Version 2 Standard chassis to the new Version 5 Anniversary chassis along the way.
