He found this kit on Facebook Marketplace for a killer deal, but of course it had been sitting for ages and needed a quick refresh. I did glance over the buffing process, mainly because I'm still a noob… But first you want to clean all the dirt and debris off the shell. I didn't bother with removing the badges since they’re made from solid metal, but if they were a thinner regular style badge, or a badge with paint on them, I would take them off. For buffing, I started with the Novus “3” compound with a stiff pad, then went to the “2” compound with the same pad. I then wiped off any excess compound and switched to a wool pad and used a carnauba wax just to really bring out the shine. Then for the last step I used the Novus “1” spray to wipe off any haze from the wax. This spray also claims to repel dust, so that's cool too. Other things to consider/things I didn't show: -I didn't paint the inside of the shells, but if you need to match a paint color, you can bring a shell into a paint store and they can help you match the color. -The tom mount looks crusty when I show fixing it, but I did clean it up afterwards -I did buff the inlay on the bd hoop before painting it. -I painted the new hoop with the same paint I used on the old hoop, just so the sheen was the same -Check out this video for installing inlays on a hoop: https://youtu.be/iBH7y9dfDzc?si=kcTZpKifoOnlph-C -Some vinyl doesnt like to stick to coated heads, but I did a secret technique to make it stick. - Drum Gear Used - Iron Cobra Hardware: https://sweetwater.sjv.io/B0LY30 Vic Firth Freestyle 5b: https://sweetwater.sjv.io/75X96r Vic Firth VKB5 Beater: https://sweetwater.sjv.io/eKK4QO Roc n Soc Throne: https://sweetwater.sjv.io/6eZR6E 21” Zildjian K Custom Special Dry Ride: https://sweetwater.sjv.io/1rDXvx 20” Zildjian Oriental Crash of Doom: https://sweetwater.sjv.io/dadqW3 16” Zildjian K Sweet Crash (hh top): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/y2NxKB 16” Zildjian A Medium Crash (hh bot): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/Qy1x99 Remo Ambassador Coated (tom & snare batter, bd reso): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/xkdqKx Remo Ambassador Clear (tom reso): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/xkdqKx Remo Ambassador Snare Side: https://sweetwater.sjv.io/Qy1x9a Aquarian Super Kick II: https://sweetwater.sjv.io/k0dPq0 Remo Falam Slam: https://sweetwater.sjv.io/AW6YNK Felt Strip (on bd reso): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/g1dQEg - Mics & Headphones - Pair of Slate ML-1 (overheads): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/q4WLKj Austrian Audio CC8 (rooms): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/DKWZ6o Earthworks DM20 (toms): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/QyYv9M Earthworks SR20LS (snare top): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/9gVj60 Shure SM57 (snare bottom): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/9ggW95 Earthworks DM6 (bass drum): https://sweetwater.sjv.io/XYB5BG Austrian Audio Hi-X60 Headphones: https://sweetwater.sjv.io/jrrW5P Tools & Materials Used: Plastic Razor Blade - https://amzn.to/3WecNTr Cheap Buffer - https://amzn.to/44bffvM Dead Blow Hammer - https://amzn.to/4b6TUFR Clamps - https://amzn.to/3xJeMVs Organizer Trays - https://amzn.to/49HKf7D Ribbon for Snares - https://amzn.to/3vRSvEx Speed Tape - https://amzn.to/3w4cgZy Microfiber Cloths - https://amzn.to/49GmooY Aluminum Foil - https://amzn.to/3xLQQAL Magic Eraser - https://amzn.to/3JviUv0 Scrubber - https://amzn.to/3QdsYw6 Q Tips - https://amzn.to/3U8EPNh Tuff Stuff - https://amzn.to/49GIoQE White Lithium Grease - https://amzn.to/3JzOFmA Novus Plastic Polish - https://amzn.to/3w5zQVJ Carnauba Wax - https://amzn.to/3wa0tZt CLR - https://amzn.to/4aPWuRe Pledge - https://amzn.to/3UsTtPR Myers Cleaner - https://amzn.to/49GmooY Restoring a 1960's Rogers Holiday Drum Set
