Restoring a shattered banjo headstock, part 1 of 2

This poor old Gold Star banjo has had its bad luck. On its second headstock overlay it is broken AGAIN! How might this turn out?
Yeah it looks like a Gibson, there's a story here. A Story I didn't know I had until I sat down one day.. and there it was!
