On November 29 2024, the Granite State Scenic had their first Santa express of the season. This express goes a few miles out of Lincoln to Mountain Park Rd., before shoving back to Lincoln station. What makes this trip notable is the inclusion of ALCO S1 958. 958 hasn't been used in regular service since 2020, running one weekend in 2023. Behind it was SW1000 105, it's inevitable replacement. 958 did the trip just fine by itself, as nobody was in the 105 and the Alco is unable to be MU'd.
At the 5:20 mark, we shift back to November 27 for a moment, where we see the 958 making a move south to Plymouth solo. Not sure what this was for but I will update in the comments when I find out. After that, we shift back to see the return shove of the Santa train.
For those wanting to catch the old Alco yourself, you may be out of luck. This was a one-and-done, as 105 handled the trips for the rest of the day, and 958 is now the backup for 105. Thanks for watching, and see you next time!
