There are many reasons to fight a war, ranging from lofty ideals such as patriotism or a sense of duty, to more mundane reasons such as acquiring wealth or resources. In some cases, the reason is a simple matter of revenge. Here are a few examples of when the primary motivator for fighting was retribution.
