One of the most interesting side stories of Risk of Rain concerns the creature known as Acrid who is the only character thus far to have been involved in the events of both games of the series. It's not the events of the games that make its story so compelling though - it's the hardships and adversity Acrid is forced to go through just so it can get what it really wants: a life of peace and solitude.
