I had the immense pleasure of taking my first ride on this amazing Rivendell Platypus the day after Thanksgiving. The first ride of my Rivendell Roadini was on Halloween (see my other videos), so it was only appropriate that the inaugural Platypus ride was also on a crisp and cool holiday morning. The riding experience created by the extreme upright stance of this bike setup is truly indescribable - it makes even the shortest of rides that much more enjoyable. I firmly believe that the Rivendell philosophy of "slow down, look up, and enjoy yourself" is equally applicable to riding and life, at least it has proven to be true for me, and this project perfectly exemplifies the transformative power of the bicycle. The build includes a mixture of components from Paul Component, Nitto, White Industries, Schmidt, Brooks England, Silver (by Rivendell), SimWorks, MKS, a vintage Shimano XTR/Dura Ace drivetrain, and perhaps the coolest basket bag of all time from Dark Realm.
