Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings is one of the defining dishes of British cuisine. It is such a classic that the French called us 'les rosbifs'. There was a time when no Sunday was complete without this traditional British roast dinner. Accompaniments for roast beef and Yorkshire puddings include roast potatoes (or mashed potatoes), root vegetables such as carrots and parsnips, brassicas like cabbage, cauliflower or broccoli and of course a rich brown gravy enhanced with the pan juices. A spoonful of horseradish sauce is an ideal condiment with the roast beef.
