In Robin Williams' first HBO stand-up special, his frenetic energy, voice and character work mesmerized the audiience, made up of many notable celebrities of the day. When he called John Ritter to the stage for some improv, the crowd roared with excitement at the possibilities of these two comic minds working together. Both actors were beginning their journeys into fame, each with a successful sitcom--Mork & Mindy for Robin and Three's Company for John.

Williams' first HBO comedy special, Off the Wall, showcased his energetic and improvisational style. This was Robin's first HBO special, part of the HBO On Location series. It was taped on location at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood in 1978.
