The Robinson Helicopter Company has introduced a symmetrical horizontal stabilizer retrofit kit, aka empennage, for existing R44 helicopters. The new stabilizer reduces a potentially dangerous right-rolling tendency when the helicopter encounters a low-G flight condition. This video shows the process and challenges of installing the new empennage kit on my R44 at Creative Rotorcraft Maintenance in Chino, California. After explaining the installation process, I fly my R44 with the new horizontal stabilizer for the first time to review how it feels for an average pilot. #micahflies
