The Rolex Learning Center by SANAA in the Swiss city of Lausanne is a one of a kind building that challenges some of the most fundamental architectural concepts. During this video we will try to explain what makes this building so unique, the challenges it had to overcome and the questions it raises for all architects moving forward. The Tokyo based studio SANAA, formed by Kazuyo Sejima and Rywe Nishizawa are amongst the top architectural firms in the world. Their unique style and understanding of architecture has granted them international recognition, and their buildings rarely fit into what most would consider “normal” or “standard”. Even though the Rolex Learning Center might look like a simple building, it is not. It is a complex design from it’s concept to it’s execution, but it is in these complex and unique challenges where SANAA thrives, and in the Rolex Learning Center was no exception.
