"Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja" is an action-comedy film released in 1993, featuring prominent roles by Sridevi, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Johnny Lever, and Jackie Shroff. Directed by Satish Kaushik, the screenplay was written by Javed Akhtar. The film was initially announced in 1987 by director Shekhar Kapur, but he left the project midway, and Satish Kaushik took over, with the film taking approximately six years to complete.
The story of "Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja" revolves around the lives of the lead characters, Romeo (Anil Kapoor) and Seema (Sridevi), who enter the world of crime while searching for their respective parents' killers. Their lives are devastated by a man named Jagmohan Lal, also known as Jugran (Anupam Kher). Jugran is a criminal who escapes arrest by Customs Officer Verma (Dilip Tahil) and kills his twin brother Manmohan to assume his identity, misleading everyone into believing Jugran is still on the run.
Jugran also eliminates Mr. Verma and Dr. Ashok, who had assisted him in smuggling, in an attempt to cover his tracks and destroy evidence, ruining their families in the process. While Verma's orphaned sons Ramesh (Anil Kapoor) and Ravi (Jackie Shroff) are separated, Dr. Ashok's daughter Seema (Sridevi) stays with her mentally distressed mother. Seema's uncle D'souza (Akash Khurana) had seen the killer at Dr. Ashok's clinic, making him a potential witness.
Separated from his family, Ramesh ends up in an orphanage where Ravi is raised by his mother. Seema is also in the same orphanage, and although they become close friends, they are eventually separated when Seema is adopted. As time passes, both grow up with their own ambitions. Ramesh becomes a man named Romio, working for Seth Giridharilal (Paresh Rawal), a wealthy owner of many thieves and con artists, while Seema, now known as Simmy, survives by stealing. Both are determined to find Jugran, who has become a major figure in the criminal underworld, to avenge their losses.
'रूप की रानी चोरों का राजा' साल 1993 में रिलीज हुई एक्शन कॉमेडी फिल्म है, जिसमें श्रीदेवी, अनिल कपूर, अनुपम खेर, जॉनी लीवर और जैकी श्रॉफ ने अहम भूमिका निभाई है। फिल्म को डायरेक्ट सतीश कौशिक ने किया था और फिल्म की कहानी जावेद अख्तर ने लिखा था। इस फिल्म को ऐलान 1987 में डायरेक्टर शेखर कपूर ने किया था, लेकिन बीच में ही छोड़ दिया था उसके बाद इस फिल्म का कमान उनकी जगह सतीश कौशिक ने ले ली थी। इसे बनाने में करीब 6 साल का समय लगा था।
'रूप की रानी चोरों का राजा' की कहानी दो लीड रोल रोमियो (अनिल कपूर) और सीमा (श्रीदेवी) की ज़िंदगी के बारे में है। जो अपने अपने मां-बाप के हत्यारे की तलाश करते हुए गुन्हा के दुनिया में कदम रखते हैं। उनकी जिंदगी बर्बाद केवल एक आदमी जगमोहन लाल उर्फ जुगरान (अनुपम खेर) ने किया है। जगमोहन लाल उर्फ जुगरान एक अपराधी है जिसे जब कस्टम ऑफिसर वर्मा (दलीप ताहिल) गिरफ्तार करने की कोशिश करता है, तो वह भाग जाता है। अपनी जान बचाने के लिए अपने जुड़वां भाई मनमोहन की हत्या कर और उसकी पहचान ले लेता है। उसके बाद दुनिया को यह विश्वास दिलाता है कि जुगरान अभी भी भाग रहा है।
जुगरान मिस्टर वर्मा और डॉ. अशोक जिसने तस्करी में उसकी मदद की थी, अपने गुनाहों और सबूत को मिटाने के लिए इन दोनों को भी मार देता है। इस दौरान उनके परिवारों को भी बर्बाद कर देता है। जबकि वर्मा के अनाथ बेटे रमेश (अनिल कपूर) और रवि (जैकी श्रॉफ) एक दूसरे से अलग हो जाते हैं और डॉ. अशोक की बेटी सीमा (श्रीदेवी) अपनी मां के साथ रह जाती है, जिसने पति के जाने के बाद अपना मानसिक संतुलन खो दिया। सीमा के चाचा डिसूजा (आकाश खुराना) ने हत्यारे को डॉ. अशोक के क्लिनिक में आते देखा था और इसलिए वह हत्यारे को पहचान सकता था।
अपनी मां और भाई से अलग होने के बाद रमेश एक अनाथालय में पहुंच जाता है और उसका रवि का पालन-पोषण उसकी मां करती है। जबकि सीमा भी रमेश के साथ एक ही अनाथालय में हैं। सीमा और रमेश अच्छे दोस्त बन जाते हैं, लेकिन सीमा को बचपन में ही किसी ने गोद लेने से वह एक-दूसरे से फिर से अलग हो जाते है। जैसे-जैसे समय बीतता है दोनों की जिंदगी भी एक मंसूबे के साथ बड़ा होते जाता है। अब रमेश रोमियो हो गया है और सेठ गिरधारीलाल (परेश रावल) के साथ रहता है, जो कई शहरों और ठगों का मालिक है। वही दूसरी ओर सीमा सिमी हो गई है और चोरी कर अपना पेट भर्ती है। लेकिन कई सालों से जुगरान की तलाश भी कर रहें है ताकि अपने मुज़लिम से बदला ले सकें, जो अब आपराधिक अंडरवर्ल्ड में एक बड़ा नाम बन गया है।
