Hiking the MATAFAO TRAIL has been on my bucketlist since we first moved to American Samoa. I always thought I would go without the kids, but we decided to give it a shot. Matafao is the highest point on Tutuila, the main island of American Samoa, and the trail is definitely difficult. Combine mud and a rainstorm with this already challenging and treacherous trail and that could be a recipe for disaster. See how our adventure turns out and if we were able to reach the summit. A great bug THANK-YOU to the National Park rangers who cleared the trail and installed ropes and ladders to make the trail passable!! Tofa Soifua.
