In late 2021 I covered the RS-422 basics and details in six videos (links below). Now let’s talk about RS-485, which kinda is an evolution, respectively, extension of RS-422. Stuff already explained in the RS-422 videos will not be repeated in this series.
First we have a look at my bench, where a 1MHz logic level square wave is transmitted as differential signal using two RS-485 transceivers. Then we talk about bus topology, specification and performance. Finally we turn things up to 10MHz.
