In this video, we’re tackling one of the most important projects on our sailboat—installing the rudder and replacing critical components to ensure the boat is seaworthy.
First, Onur handles the challenging task of replacing the cutlass bearing, housing, shaft, and propeller. This comes after discovering a major issue with the stern tube that caused serious leaking when the boat was en route to France under professional captains. After an emergency haul-out and months of upgrades, we’re now following US standards, making sure everything from the shaft to the cutlass bearing fits perfectly.
Watch as we take you through each step of the installation process, from measuring the cutlass bearing and housing, to preparing the bronze propeller with Barnacle Blocker, to the final installation of the rudder. It’s been a long journey, but seeing the boat come together brings us one step closer to our sailing adventure.
