A man and a chicken stand on the side of the road. Each one waiting for the other to cross.
The man asks, "aren't you gonna cross?"
The chicken replies, "yes"
"Why aren't you doing it then?" says the man, not attempting to hide the hurry in his voice.
"because" the chicken finally says. "because I don't seem to have a reason" He seems as though the statement is hard to admit, even to himself.
Filled with compassion for the chicken in his predicament the man changes his tone. He reaches out his hand, a quiet smile emerging on his formerly featureless face.
"Thats ok buddy. You don't need a reason."
Stepping off the curb wing in hand, the unlikely duo make their way into oncoming traffic. The sound of screeching breaks and skidding tires doesn't seem to trouble them as they close the distance, step by step, to the other side of the road.
