Since parkrun started on the Isle of Skye six months ago I have wanted to visit. I absolutely love the Scottish Highlands and I knew the drive here would be absolutely epic. What I didn't know was that the weather on Skye, in February, can be remarkably kind! I had an absolutely incredible week in Scotland, Munro bagging, exploring waterfalls and finishing up visiting my mum in Dunbar. I can't believe I got more sunshine in Scotland than my friends had back in Leeds. I feel very very lucky!
Skinadin parkrun is a real gem. A destination parkrun for sure and the scenery and wildlife are unreal. There is a close knit community here, as you'd expect of island life, and this is also one of the things that attracted me to this parkrun. Everyone we met was so lovely and it was great to get advice about how to spend a few days on Skye. We definitely made the most of our time there and the unexpected sunshine.
Don't just head here for the parkrun and dash off... You'll be kicking yourself as you'll be missing out. Skye has so much to offer, especially if you go outside of tourist season as we did. The parkrun itself is unbelievably beautiful and if Skinadin parkrun wasn't on your parkrun Bucket List then I hope it is after watching this video. Chilling in the Coffee Bothy was also pretty special so we returned here a few times during the week!
