Chuya River is a river in the Altai Mountains, a right tributary of the Katun River. It is 217 km long and has a drainage basin of 11200 km².
The Upper Chuya flows through a vast steppe resembling a desert. The village of Kosh-Agach, located in the middle of this steppe, is the end point of the Chuya highway.
Further, after meeting with the powerful right tributary Chagan-Uzun, the Chuya changes its manner, becoming a turbulent river, flowing between the spurs of the Kurai and Chui ranges. On the way, you can see the Kurai steppe, turning into a mountainous area. Here Chuya is constrained by steep slopes, creating impressive pictures, continuously continuing its turbulent path along a deep furrow washed out in the terraces.
Chuya meanders are graceful bends (loops, turns) of the Chuya River bed in the Altai Republic. The Chuya River against the background of the Severo-Chuysky Ridge winds in different directions, creating an unforgettable landscape.

Верхняя Чуя протекает по обширной степи, напоминающей пустыню. Селение Кош-Агач, расположенное среди этой степи, является конечной точкой Чуйского тракта.
Далее, после встречи с мощным правым притоком Чаган-Узун, Чуя меняет свою манеру, становясь бурной рекой, протекая между отрогами Курайского и Чуйского хребтов. По пути можно увидеть Курайскую степь, переходящую в горную местность. Здесь Чуя стесняется крутыми склонами, создавая впечатляющие картины, непрерывно продолжая свой бурный путь по глубокой борозде, вымытой в террасах.
Чуйские меандры - это изящные изгибы (петли, повороты) русла реки Чуя в Республике Алтай. Река Чуя на фоне Северо-Чуйского хребта петляет в разные стороны, создавая незабываемый пейзаж.
