Ukraine has suffered a major setback as Russian forces make fresh territorial gains in the Sumy and Kursk regions. Moscow’s Ministry of Defense claims its troops have captured Novenke in Sumy—marking Russia’s first advance in the region since 2022. Additionally, four more villages in Kursk—Lebedevka, Malaya Loknya, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, and Kositsa—have reportedly fallen to Russian forces. Experts warn that these advances bring Russian troops closer to cutting off a crucial Ukrainian supply route. Meanwhile, the U.S. has restricted Ukraine’s access to intelligence in an effort to push Kyiv into ceasefire talks.
