Belovodye - the center of the migration of Old Believers in the 18th century from Central Russia. The village of Korobikha is located on the territory of the Katon-Karagay National Park, one of the pearls of Eastern Kazakhstan.
Once these people fled from hard labor and the cruel regime of Tsarist Russia in search of Belovodye - the country of true faith. They were also called Kerzhaks. According to one version, this means "came from the other side", from the Kazakh "keri zhak". According to another, the name comes from the name of the Kerzhenets River in the Nizhny Novgorod region, where this people originates.
Today we will see the celebration of the Holy Trinity Day. The Christian Day of the Holy Trinity (Pentecost, Spirit Day) coincides in time with the transition from spring to summer and the pagan holiday of Semik, or Triglav. During this period, summer festivities and fortune telling began in Rus'. With the help of ritual songs and dances, the Slavs "programmed" the land for abundant flowering and a large harvest.
The birch is rightfully considered the main symbol of Trinity. Songs were dedicated to it, it was called a godmother, a friend. Children from the Moscow region with a birch branch decorated with ribbons, paper flowers, eggshells and bells went around houses, singing about the curly birch and collecting treats. Ribbons for decorating the birch were a luxury item. Those who did not bring a ribbon were not allowed to collect candies.
After that, unmarried girls began to throw their birch wreaths into the water. Whose wreath floated to the shore first, she would be the first to get married, and if the wreath floated far from the shore, then the groom would be from far away. That is why in the old days, after this ritual, fellow villagers in love would swim for wreaths and nail them close by.
