Here’s our RV checklist for setting up! Almost three years full time RVing living in our fifth wheel and we still use a checklist. It’s better to be safe than sorry when unhitching or hitching up and you should always make a list and double check it. This is our 5th wheel checklist for setting up camp and auto leveling but it will serve as a good generalization list for any RV setup.

✅UNHITCHING CHECKLIST✅
- [ ] Check to make sure RV position is good for all slide and awning clearances and level ground
- [ ] Plug EMS into power pedestal to start power check cycle
- [ ] Quick water test to make it works
- [ ] PUT TIRE CHOCKS OUT
- [ ] Once EMS has approved electricity is ok at the panel, shut power source back down
- [ ] Connect cord to camper first then to the EMS surge protector then turn power back on at source
- [ ] LOWER TRUCK TAILGATE
- [ ] Disconnect 7 way connector from truck
- [ ] Disconnect breakaway safety cable
- [ ] Disconnect safety chains
- [ ] Turn and pull Andersen connection handle to unlock from ball
- [ ] Place Andersen buckets on jacks and put down any wood needed
- [ ] Turn on auto leveling system
- [ ] Lower front jacks only until camper comes up off the ball of the hitch
- [ ] Once camper is clear of the hitch, drive truck forward far enough till it’s well clear of the front of the camper.
- [ ] Press auto level button
- [ ] Start water connections while auto leveling
- [ ] Switch water from dry camping mode to city water
- [ ] Shut water pump off
- [ ] Once leveled, lower stairs and check inside for any cabinets open or items that may obstruct slides...start to put out slides slowly while listening and checking for obstructions
- [ ] Raise satellite, turn AC on, turn water heater on, check fridge for which power mode it’s in
- [ ] Connect sewer hose
- [ ] Check rubber seals around slides to make sure they properly came out
