On this Episode we board the Qayaq W, the Labrador (LMI) ferry in St. Barbe, Newfoundland headed for Blanc-Sablon and Labrador.
There we visit Point Amour Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in Atlantic Canada and a provincial historic site. We climb the 132 stairs to the top, tour the museum and spend the night in one of the most unique and beautiful boondocking locations we have found.
Next we visit Red Bay, a Canadian National Historic Site and UNESCO World Heritage Site, where in 1977 researchers discovered the location of a huge 16th century Basques whaling station. You can tour the fascinating museum and then take a short boat ride and guided walk on Saddle Island where archeologists made incredible finds, including the off-shore under-water remnants of three galleons including the San Juan, that was incredibly intact due to the cold water.
Finally, join us in Pinware River Provincial Park with its awesome ocean-front camping.
