🔶About welding direction
We checked with the welding associations and found that until now, the welding direction between passes was unquestionable, but only the final layer had to have the same welding direction.
However, due to an amendment made two years ago in 2021, the direction of the final layer does not have to be the same.
Therefore, it is no longer a problem to weld from either direction on all layers.
However, it is necessary to weld in the same direction from end to end without changing the welding direction in the middle.
For example, in the case of horizontal SA-2H, the final layer does not have to be welded in the same direction, but it is OK to overlap a left-to-right bead followed by a right-to-left bead! The same goes for repair welds!
But note that the bending position is fixed, so if you do the first pass and the arc breaks at the back bending location, there is no point in turning it over!
