Detailled tutorial on how to disassemble, service and reassemble the Sachs Pentasport 5 speed hub with clickbox. This also works for SRAM Spectro P5 hubs. I show you what to do when your hub and shifter wont work properly. Also I show some common problems with this hub
This type of gear hub by Fichtel & Sachs hit the market in the 90's as adevelopment of the Torpedo Pentasport hub. The diffenece between both is, that this type of hub pushed the gears in, instead of pulling them in (shifter chains). The transmission of the gears was increased to 251%. The company Sachs was bought by SRAM in 1997. Since then the Pentasport was produced under the name "Spectro P5" while the mechanical concept remained the same. From 2003 SRAM only starded using a different brake mechanism. Every hub and shifter that gets wrecked contributes to the vanishing of this model.
