Tracy Harris’s murder went unsolved for years, with her ex-husband Carl Harris suspected but never charged due to lack of evidence. In 2020, it was revealed that Jeff Beasley, who had lived with the Harrises, confessed to accidentally killing Tracy during a confrontation. He had tried to convince her to leave Carl, but a fight ensued, leading to her death. Jeff was arrested and sentenced to 30 years, exonerating Carl. Despite this, Tracy's daughter Carolyn remains estranged from Carl due to his abusive past, and now advocates for domestic violence awareness.

Billy Ray Ballard, a violent criminal with a history of abductions, rapes, and murders, targeted young couples, often choosing remote locations for his attacks. In the 1985 murders of Edward Smith and Kimberly LaVine, he abducted the couple, forced them to a secluded area, and murdered Smith before killing LaVine. Ballard's motive appeared to be sadistic and opportunistic, driven by a need to control and inflict violence. His signature rope and boot prints, along with a fingerprint found on Smith's car, eventually led to his identification and arrest.

The 1987 murders of Vincent and Margaret Sherry were orchestrated by Peter Halat, the mayor of Booy, to cover up his theft of money from a scam run by the Dixie Mafia. Halat, who was once Vincent's law partner, feared that Vincent had stolen a significant portion of the scam's funds. To divert blame and protect himself, Halat arranged for the Sherrys' murders, hiring hitman Thomas Hulc to carry out the killings. Despite years of investigation, Halat's involvement was only confirmed in 1997, when he was convicted of conspiracy to murder.
