Saka Sirhind, also known as the Chhote Sahibzada Saka, was a tragic event in Sikh history that commemorates the martyrdom of the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, along with their grandmother Mata Gujri Ji, at the hands of the Mughal governor of Sirhind, Wazir Khan, in 1704.
Following the siege of Anandpur Sahib, Mata Gujri Ji and the two younger Sahibzadas escaped, but were later betrayed and captured by a deceitful cook named Gangu. They were brought before Wazir Khan, who offered them the choice of converting to Islam or facing death. The Sahibzadas refused to renounce their faith and were entombed alive in a cold tower, while Mata Gujri Ji was bricked up in a nearby wall.
Their martyrdom stands as a testament to their unwavering faith and courage in the face of oppression and persecution. The Saka Sirhind is remembered by Sikhs with great reverence and serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made to preserve their identity and beliefs.
