Sandown's Model Railway Exhibition
Sandown Train & Hobby Show 2024 | Part 1
Hello all,
Welcome to a model railway exhibition video. Today we head out for the annual Sandown Train & Hobby Show, previously known as and still commonly called the Sandown Model Railway Exhibition. This year the exhibition was pushed back one week from the usual Labour Day long weekend. It was held in the Sandown Racecourse showrooms, spanning over three rooms. The main floor is for model railways, the southern top room is for other hobbies and the northern top room is for arts & crafts. The exhibition is self-proclaimed to be the largest model train exhibition in Victoria, although this appears contradictory from the last few years’ experience.. It hosted 26 operational model railway layouts, with the rest of the stands being promoters, trade stands, static displays or other hobbies.
In this part we capture 11 of the operational model railway layouts of various sizes and scales. These are broken up into Australian, American, British and German eras.
No program was provided for this exhibition on the Saturday, so some layout names may not reflect what is seen on the initial floor plan.

The Sandown Train & Hobby Show is an annual exhibition. It is held at the Sandown Racecourse and over the years has been expanding into areas other than model railways.
