Travel from Sapa to Lao Cai includes taxis, minibuses and local buses. I think taxis are fast, of course, but depending on the waiting time until departure, I think there is not much difference.

There is also a local bus stop near the Sapa Church.
Minibuses arrive directly at their destinations, but the interior is quite small.
