SCENTHUSIASM: the Grojsman Accord and other Clouds

What we talk about this time is using clouds to create the Grojsman accord, invented by perfumer Sophia Grojsman, who changed all of perfumery in the ‘80s and '90s. We smell the four materials in the original "Hug Me" Accord, demonstrate how to generate serotonin, and talk about linear fragrances.

Would it be a Sarah and Arthur film if things didn’t wander off a bit? They ask if it’s true we could all benefit from 20 hugs a day. Can the hugs be from anyone, or should we curate our huggers list? Or, as Sarah kindly demonstrates, can we just rub our own arms and get the same benefits?

Back to perfume. The materials we talk about in this film are the materials Arthur describes as ‘the secrets of the perfume industry’. They take your formula from “You made it yourself? Well done.” to “Oh wow, you made it yourself? How did you do that then?”

These are the materials that will turn your blend of interesting things into a wearable fragrance.

If you’ve got any questions about perfumery, not hugs, ask down in the comments.

We’ve accumulated quite a collection of perfume making films on this channel, if you’re looking for a place to start, watch these:
