This is how holidays in southern Sweden work! Tamina Kallert travels through idyllic Småland in a compact motorhome - always following in the footsteps of Astrid Lindgren, who was born there. She visits the theme park "Astrid Lindgren's World" and the original location of her character Michel from Lönneberga. (You can find more of Tamina's Scandinavian adventures, e.g. her spectacular tour through Norway in 4K, in the ARD media library: https://1.ard.de/wunderschoen-suedschweden-?yt=d)

Småland is also home to the well-known Swedish furniture store that has a museum there. On her journey, Tamina Kallert takes part in a moose safari, camps by the water in Åsnen National Park and learns about the traditional customs of Midsummer's Eve celebrations.
In "Astrid Lindgren's World" in Vimmerby you can immerse yourself in the stories of the famous author. In one part of the park, furniture is set up so big that adults feel like children again. There are small theater performances on seven different stages. The author's childhood home, which is now a museum, is also in Vimmerby. There, Tamina Kallert learns a lot about the love story of Astrid Lindgren's parents. The next stop on the journey is Gibberyd, the original film set by Michel from Lönneberga. There is still the old courtyard and the shed where Michel once atoned for his pranks.
When "Midsommar" is celebrated, night becomes day. Because on the longest day of the year, it is only dark for a few hours. Tamina Kallert bought a colorful dress especially for the party. She celebrates with the villagers at a manor in Skruv. It starts early in the morning: twigs and flowers are collected for the wreaths and the midsummer pole. Traditionally, strawberry cake is eaten. Dancing, singing and fooling around all day long.
In Eriksgården, Tamina Kallert gets to know the hard farm work around 1900. In Gränna, in the mid-19th century, a widow started her own business, where she invented Swedish candy canes, which are still made there today. Not far away in Jönköping, two brothers had a brilliant idea that revolutionized the match. In the former factory building you can now visit what is probably the only match museum of this kind in the world.
