A good start to the rescue day - Antoine has been looking for a particular seal for a while, and today was the day she was caught and rescued from a piece of fishing line. It was a typical catch and cut rescue, only a few short minutes from start to finish. The second rescue took longer, the rescuers from Ocean Conservation were faced with ANOTHER hook in a seal's mouth. We assume that there is a food shortage and seals are "stealing" bait from long liners and accidentally getting hooked in the process. The rescuers get their tools ready, they know it won't be a quick rescue, and carefully remove the hook from her mouth. It is hard to watch, but there is a happy ending: she is back in the ocean and is expected to make a full recovery. The rescue happened on time. 🦭
