This unit was built in 1953 and was the first commercially available Hi-Fi player for residential use. It's fairly rare as these cost a whopping $695 in 1953 and only the more affluent people could afford to own one. They were made in a "Lime Oak" finish and this more desirable "Matched Crotch Mahogany" version. It featured a 200 play individual record selective mechanism (100 45 RPM records x 2 sides = 200 play), Seeburg Hi-Fi HFA1-L6 amp and preamp and Jensen speakers. I found this listed in a newspaper as "Seeburg Record Player - $350". I couldn't get there quick enough and open my wallet fast enough! This was in a heated basement covered with a tarp since about 1955. It was totally unmolested complete with the mech cover, all ORIGINAL screws and, oddly enough, the only gold Pickering cartridge (original to this unit) that I had ever seen! I've rebuilt the preamp & amp, serviced the mech, cleaned up the case and replace the old cartridge with a new Pickering 345-03D. This thing plays & sounds better than when it was new! Enjoy!!
