Seed Heads are considered a problem by lawn enthusiasts and this video is about how to control them. Prevent during the late spring and early summer, they come out because the heat increase tells the lawn that it maybe in trouble because of the hotter weather and as a survival mechanism it throws out seeds with the hope in the future that the seeds will make new grass. The process is natural but often, people think that it is weed. It is not a weed but rather a natural growth process of the plant. The funny thing about hybrid couch like my Tif Tuf, seed heads won't germinate. The lawn lost the fertility during the cross breading however it still thinks it can propagate this way, it can't unfortunately. Lawns that are cut low and regularly manicured can get seed heads just like any other lawn. The thing is it really doesn't look neat. Luckily seed heads will not be around for long, they only hang around a few weeks. If you don't want seed heads, constant mowing and yes, they don't mow too well because of their bendy stalk, as well as using plant growth regulator regularly during the growing season will lessen the amount of them and how high they get. Even with a well managed lawn using plant growth regulator, they can still pop up from time to time. Nature finds a way but I guess at least they don't hang around for long.
